3.31.22 – 4.3.22
Tobacco Road FC’s U19 USL Academy, an affiliate partnership with Triangle United Soccer Association plans a Spring 2022 launch at USL’s Academy Cup. The team’s Academy Cup debut will serve as a launching pad towards a bid for inclusion in future USL academy league season play.
USL’s academy platform offers the premier pre-professional player development environment for the country’s elite youth players ages 13 – 19 by creating a direct path from youth to professional soccer.
“From our club’s inception, our mission has been to unite our community through the game of soccer by providing premier playing and development opportunities for the area’s best talent. We believe this is an exciting announcement for local soccer and our community. We are thrilled to partner with Triangle United on this venture, “ said Cedric Burke, TRFC’s Sporting Director.
The U19 academy level creates a direct link between TRFC’s existing USL2 platform and Triangle United's senior youth age groups by pushing the area’s premier youth talent to grow and evolve as players and young men through a holistic development environment. In the spirt of a true pre-professional environment, the bulk of player costs will be subsidized through existing community based strategic partnerships.
"Triangle United is looking forward to this partnership with Tobacco Road FC for our senior boys players and the opportunity to be around the USL2 team. Being able to offer this program for our players only strengthens what we doing as an organization within our community", said John Cirillo, Triangle United's Director of Soccer.
Tryouts for the inaugural U19 Academy Cup team will be held February 26th from 11:30am – 1:30pm at Twin Lakes Park in Durham.
